What Lokals collects

Lokals collects the contact details, work preferences, experience, interview answers, credentials, and consent choices you provide. We also record which page you first visited and which link brought you there, so we know which channel is working; this page-and-link data is used only to measure our own marketing. Our analytics providers, PostHog and Google Analytics, receive it for that purpose only, and it is never sold. See Service providers below for how your contact details themselves are used. If you request a work reference, we store the referee details you provide, your permission confirmation, delivery status, and their private response.

How it is used

We use this information to build your work profile, assess job-related evidence, send secure access and important profile messages, contact you about opportunities when you choose those emails, and introduce relevant profile information to employers when you have authorized that use. Candidate contact details are not shown to employers before the product workflow permits an introduction. Referee contact details and raw answers are restricted to Lokals staff. Employers may receive only a reviewed, non-identifying reference signal.

Service providers

Lokals uses Vercel to run the application, Neon PostgreSQL in the United States to store application data, Clerk for candidate identity verification and administrative access, Bird for SMS and email, PostHog for product analytics and session recordings when analytics is enabled, Google Analytics to measure which pages and ads are working, Meta for ad measurement when that is enabled, model services routed through OpenRouter for evidence-based analysis, and Cloudflare R2 for private candidate documents when uploads are enabled. Each provider processes data only to help run Lokals for you, and we do not sell your information. We never share your phone number or SMS opt-in consent with any third party for marketing or advertising. When you reach a milestone in your profile, we do send Meta (Facebook/Instagram) a scrambled (hashed) version of your email address and name — never in plain text — so Meta can match it against its own records and measure whether its ads led to that milestone. Meta never receives your phone number. Session recordings show how pages are used, such as clicks and scrolling. They hide everything you type and all text on the page, and we never record admin pages, private links or email settings.

Retention and choices

Interview and evidence records are retained for up to 24 months after your last activity. Credential images are retained for up to 12 months after you become Inactive. You may opt out of SMS by replying STOP, change your communication consent, become Inactive, request an export, or request erasure. Becoming Inactive preserves your profile; erasure is a separate process that anonymizes or removes it. A referee may decline a request and may ask Lokals to prevent future reference emails to that address.

Security and accuracy

Lokals limits access by role, stores private files outside public storage, and records important changes for investigation. No internet service can promise absolute security. You may ask Lokals to correct inaccurate profile information.
